The countries of the European Union have listed the military wing and special forces of Hamas, as well as the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, on the EU's human rights sanctions list for their responsibility for "widespread acts of sexual violence and violence against women during the attack on Israel on October 7." The bloc clarified that the Al-Qassam Brigades and elite forces of Hamas, alongside the Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad, are now subject to asset freezes and travel bans to the European Union. Providing funds to them, whether directly or indirectly, is also now prohibited, according to the European Union.
