With the scent of wine filling the air in Marjayoun, the winery "LES VIGNES DU MARJE" welcomed the General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Louis Lahoud, accompanied by the Chairman of the National Institute of Vine and Wine, Mr. Zafer Shawy, the Head of the Agricultural Industries Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Meryam Eid, and industrialist Wissam Riachi. They toured the winery, owned by Carol and Emad Khoury, to taste the finest wines. The tour was joined by the Mayor of Marjayoun, Amal Hourani, and several grape growers as well as local figures.
Lahoud and the delegation visited the vineyards planted with grapes for production in the Marjayoun area and then tasted the winery's products. During his tour of the vineyards, Louis Lahoud praised "WARADANA" for the quality of the winery and the meticulous care taken by its managers, highlighting the quality of its wine, which elevates Lebanese wine status. He also emphasized the Ministry of Agriculture's support for such initiatives.
The Chairman of the National Institute of Vine and Wine, Zafer Shawy, expressed his admiration for this winery, the first of its kind in the Marjayoun area, which plays a vital and commercial role for the region, adding to the 56 others in Lebanon. He noted the craftsmanship that characterizes winemaking from planting the vines to harvesting them and finally to producing the wine.
Project founder and managing partner Carol Khoury expressed her gratitude and happiness for having "LES VIGNES DU MARJE" featured on the map of Lebanese wine production. She confirmed their readiness to welcome Lebanese residents and expatriates to taste the wine in Marjayoun and visit the vineyards, in an ideal experience to learn about the history and stages of this industry that is part of Lebanese heritage.
The winery has witnessed visits from over a thousand people worldwide and has exported its production to Germany and the United States, finding a place in other global wine markets. "LES VIGNES DU MARJE" is distinguished by its meticulous care for grapes and its cultivation in fertile vineyards, amid a moderate climate suitable for growing various grape varieties, which are handpicked at the right moment when they reach peak ripeness to produce globally competitive wine.
