The Ministry of Agriculture stated in a report that, "Based on the directives of the Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Dr. Abbas Al-Haj Hassan, ministry teams conducted a field visit to the agricultural fields in the Akkar region. They communicated with farmers from the coastal and central areas and the villages near the southern Great River, which suffered significant damage due to the floods. A report was submitted detailing the following damages:
In Akkar:
- A large number of villages in this region were submerged by rainwater and the floods from nearby rivers.
- Water levels rose to about one meter in most areas, leading to the destruction of a significant percentage of crops such as grass, potatoes, carrots, and protected cultivations in greenhouses.
- The damage ranged from suffocation and erosion to burial of crops like potato seeds, especially in recently cultivated fields.
- An increase in damage was noted in potato fields that were difficult to drain, particularly low-lying lands, which caused rot in the tubers underground.
- Limited damage was recorded in plastic greenhouses, mostly in areas flooded by torrents, resulting in the destruction of crops inside them.
- Cases of livestock and poultry deaths were reported, particularly among sheep and goats.
In Wadi Khaled:
- The affected area is estimated at two thousand dunams planted with winter crops such as wheat and barley, but strawberries and tomatoes were the most affected.
- The number of damaged greenhouses in the Wadi Khaled area alone exceeds 200.
- Cases of livestock and poultry deaths were also recorded, especially among sheep and goats."
