The Norwegian royal palace indicated today, Monday, that "King Harald of Norway will need to have a permanent pacemaker installed, after he was airlifted from Malaysia to Oslo on a medical evacuation plane yesterday, Sunday." The royal palace added in a statement, "The infection has been controlled... The king has a low heart rate and will need to have a permanent pacemaker installed." The 87-year-old king underwent surgery to install a temporary pacemaker on Saturday after being hospitalized due to an infection while on a private trip to Langkawi Island.
