The Meteorological Authority announced today, Tuesday, that 8 earthquakes were recorded within Iraq during March. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), it mentioned, "The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismological Monitoring, under the supervision of Director General Abdul Azim Abdul Qahar Al-Saadi, issued its monthly report for the Seismological Monitoring Department regarding the seismic bulletin and the seismic activity map in Iraq and surrounding areas for March 2024."
The report stated that "the total number of earthquakes recorded by the Iraqi Seismological Monitoring Network this month reached 22, including 8 earthquakes within Iraq, 12 earthquakes within Turkish territory, one earthquake within Iranian borders, in addition to one earthquake within Syrian territory." It noted that "the seismic activity outside Iraq was clearly concentrated during March, specifically in Turkey near its border with Iraq, as well as in Iran and Syria, according to the tremors included in the monthly report of the Iraqi Seismological Monitoring Network."
