Amid the worsening phenomenon of drug trafficking and its promotion in various Lebanese regions, including the Bcharre district, and the serious implications it poses to the future of Lebanon's youth, who become victims of the merchants and promoters, Bcharre deputies Strida Jumblatt and William Tawak issued a joint statement that included the following: "We, the deputies of the Bcharre district, Strida Jumblatt and William Tawak, express our firm rejection of the infiltration of this dangerous phenomenon into the Bcharre district and emphasize the need to effectively and decisively confront it, considering that drug trafficking and promotion are not merely crimes punishable under the penal code, but rather disgraceful offenses that undermine the safety and stability of our society, destroy our local youth, threaten the future of our generations, and obliterate the moral values that are part of Bcharre's history."
They added: "Accordingly, we call upon the security forces and the relevant judicial authorities to fulfill their duties in combating this scourge resolutely within our community by pursuing all traffickers and promoters in the Bcharre district, apprehending them, and imposing the strictest penalties against them. We must also emphasize the necessity of protecting and supporting the victims of these criminals who have fallen into the trap of drug abuse, guiding them back from the abyss of death to the realms of life. This is a shared duty for all of us, which necessitates effective cooperation among all political, social, religious, and civil activities in the Bcharre district to confront this serious threat to our community and to expose, pursue, and penalize all drug traffickers and promoters."
