"Threads" is struggling to retain the users who joined in the tens of millions during its initial days, as new figures show a massive decline in the platform's popularity. Research firms "Similarweb" and "Sensor Tower" have highlighted the challenges faced by "Meta" in trying to capitalize on the opportunities that arose from the recent chaos surrounding "X" (formerly Twitter), according to U.S. news network CNN.
"Sensor Tower" notes that the daily active user rate has dropped by 82% since its launch until July 31. It also mentioned that users are browsing the app less frequently and spending less time on it. For example, on its launch day, users were browsing "Threads" 14 times a day and spending an average of 19 minutes on it, while by the end of the month, these figures dropped significantly. Users on August 1 were spending an average of only 2.9 minutes per day on the app.
The second company reached a similar conclusion, stating that "Threads" peaked at 49 million daily users on July 7. By July 29, that number had collapsed to just 11 million.
