France: Determined to Advance Military Cooperation with Iraq

French Ambassador to Baghdad, Patrick Durel, confirmed today, Thursday, his country's commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership with Iraq in various forms and dimensions, and to advancing military and security cooperation. Durel stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Iraq and France have an ancient relationship that covers all areas, especially in the military sector," reiterating that "the military relationship between the two countries has a rich history, which has been strengthened today due to emerging threats and security risks posed by terrorist groups."

He added that "France is determined to move forward in developing this military and security cooperation with Iraq," noting that "training Iraqi desert combat units is part of the effort to enhance, renew, and revitalize the military relationship now and in the future."

Durel confirmed that "France is ready to enhance military cooperation with Iraq and to pursue broader collaborations in various fields," highlighting that "Iraq and France share a very close strategic partnership that covers all sectors." He pointed out that "France is committed to strengthening this partnership in all its forms and dimensions, whether in economic, university, or educational fields," mentioning that "there are existing projects that reflect the extent of this strategic partnership between the two countries."
