The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as part of the follow-up being conducted by the Internal Security Forces sectors to combat crimes and apprehend wanted individuals, on 19-03-2024, information was obtained regarding the entry of a Syrian national into a hospital in Bekaa under an altered Syrian passport bearing the name: Q. Sh. (born in 2003), who was suffering from multiple fractures due to having been hit by an unknown vehicle in the Shamsar area (according to his statements). Consequently, the Information Branch began its investigations regarding the individual and the incident he had been involved in. As a result of the investigation, his true identity was fully established as: M. A. (born in 1992, Syrian), who has a criminal record for theft and gunfire offenses. He is wanted under a warrant for robbery and forming a gang, with a summary judgment and a warrant for theft. It is likely that the injuries he sustained were a result of his falling while carrying out one of his electrical wire theft operations. On the same date, the Information Branch was tasked with apprehending him within the hospital, and a guard post was established until his treatment period was completed, after which he would be handed over to the relevant authority to carry out the legal procedures against him, based on judicial directives."
