The spokesman for the Iraqi Security Media Cell, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of four drug dealers in Baghdad and Najaf. Miri noted in a statement that "the intelligence and security directorate of Najaf managed to capture two drug dealers and promoters with over 500 narcotic pills in their possession." He added that "the arrest was made through coordination with drug-related affairs in the province, and after being presented to the judiciary, they were detained under the provisions of Article 28 on narcotics."
He continued that "the intelligence and security directorate of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Baghdad Operations Command, arrested two drug dealers in the Sabaa al-Bour and al-Obaidi areas of Baghdad under an arrest warrant issued against them for Article 28 on narcotics. Various narcotics and tools for consumption were seized from them during the arrest, and the suspects have been referred for investigation."
Miri also highlighted that "other directorate units, in cooperation with the Baghdad Operations Command, discovered an ammunition cache in the Nahrawan area containing 11 artillery shells and two mortar rounds, which were safely removed by engineering efforts without any incidents reported."
