Russian neurologist Anastasia Tarasova warned that migraine attacks may be triggered by certain foods that people consume without realizing their negative health effects. Regarding this topic, the doctor stated: "To avoid migraine attacks, one should be cautious about consuming certain foods that irritate the nervous system. Foods that may trigger headaches include bacon, sausages, and some types of processed meats." She added, "There are many types of cheese that may also cause these issues, as well as smoked meats and fish, certain nuts and legumes, sauerkraut, and wine; these items can trigger headaches due to their content of tyramine."
The doctor pointed out that "tyramine is a natural chemical compound formed from the breakdown of the amino acid tyrosine, and this compound causes blood vessels in the brain to constrict, leading to headache attacks." According to the physician, "Migraine attacks may also result from products containing caffeine, and those who suffer from this issue are advised to avoid alcoholic beverages, citrus fruits, and tropical fruits." Tarasova emphasized the necessity of avoiding stress triggers and warned that hunger can sometimes also cause migraine attacks.
