The English club Arsenal has decided to wear a full white kit for their upcoming match against Liverpool on Sunday, as part of the 2024 FA Cup. This will be Arsenal's second encounter with Liverpool after their previous 1-1 draw in the Premier League on December 23 of last year.
Initially, Arsenal was expected to play in their traditional red and white kit, while Liverpool would don their away kit. However, the Gunners opted to wear the all-white outfit. According to a report by the British newspaper "Daily Mail," Arsenal's choice of white is part of a campaign titled “No More Red,” aimed at combating knife crime.
This initiative was launched in 2022 to address youth violence, and features a charitable shirt named "No More Red," referencing the color of blood. The shirt will be sold for £30, with profits going to charity.
Jack Aironside, who works in social inclusion at Arsenal, commented on the idea of wearing the white kit, saying, “Wearing the shirt on match day means expressing a stance and making a statement to highlight the issue, after which we can provide support through actual weekly engagement with young people.”
This marks the third time Arsenal will wear the all-white kit and the first time at their home ground. The previous occasions were during the third round of the FA Cup in 2022 against Nottingham Forest and last year against Oxford United, both in the same competition. Arsenal unexpectedly lost their first match in the white kit against Nottingham Forest 0-1 on January 9, 2022, but won the match against Oxford United 3-0 last season.
