The head of the Veterinary Doctors Union, Nidal Hassan, has urged pet owners in a statement to care for their animals and not leave them in front of veterinary clinics. This plea comes in response to numerous complaints from veterinarians about many pet owners abandoning their animals outside their clinics for them to care for. He added, "This act exposes veterinarians to harm and losses, putting them in a position where they must choose between caring for these animals or leaving them to a miserable fate. The role of the veterinarian is to treat these animals at the request of their owners and at their expense. What is happening today poses a threat to public health and safety, necessitating that concerned official and private authorities address this phenomenon through local and international organizations. This also falls under the responsibility of local authorities." He called upon "official authorities and concerned local and international organizations to fulfill their duties as quickly as possible, address this phenomenon, and pursue those responsible, hoping for cooperation from everyone."
