Ukrainian President Arrives in Norway on Surprise Visit

The Norwegian government announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Norway today, Wednesday, for an unannounced visit to discuss support for his country's defense against the Russian invasion. The government stated that Zelensky and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre would hold meetings on the continued support of Norway for Ukraine, among other topics for discussion. Leaders from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland are also scheduled to meet in Oslo today for a planned summit of Nordic countries. Støre said in a statement, "Norway will continue to support Ukraine in defending itself, and we will provide specific and long-term support to help Ukraine in its fight for freedom and democracy." He added, "Ukraine's efforts are important for protecting freedom and security here in Norway as well."
