The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed "the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's regret for the failure of the United Nations Security Council to adopt a resolution for the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations," according to "WAS." The ministry affirmed that "the obstruction of Palestine's full membership in the United Nations contributes to the entrenchment of Israeli occupation and the continuation of its violations of international law without deterrence, and will not bring closer the desired peace." The Kingdom reiterated its demand for "the international community to fulfill its responsibility to stop the Israeli occupation's attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip and to support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their state on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions."
