On Thursday, Google announced that it has terminated the contracts of 28 employees after some participated in protests against the contract the company signed with the Israeli government. The Alphabet subsidiary mentioned that a few protesting employees entered some of the company’s premises and disrupted operations.
In a statement, the company said, "Physically obstructing the work of other employees and preventing them from accessing our offices is a clear violation of our policies and entirely unacceptable behavior."
Google clarified that it conducted individual investigations, which led to the termination of the 28 employees, and it will continue to investigate and take necessary actions as needed.
In a statement on Medium, Google employees affiliated with the "No Tech for Apartheid" campaign described the firings as "blatant retaliation" and noted that some employees who did not directly participate in Tuesday's protests were also among those fired by Google. The statement added, "Google workers have the right to peacefully protest our terms and conditions of work."
