On Sunday, the Saudi Ministry of Interior showcased the first electric security vehicle equipped with artificial intelligence technologies at the World Defense Exhibition 2024. The vehicle was manufactured by Lucid in the Kingdom and interacts with AI systems to monitor security violations. It features technologies that enable it to recognize license plates of vehicles violating traffic regulations, as well as the ability to identify wanted persons and assess their behavior by analyzing facial expressions through six integrated cameras.
Additionally, it can analyze data and send it to the command and control center, enhancing security effectiveness and improving road safety. The vehicle is also equipped with a drone, capable of flying and capturing footage of locations where criminal issues occur. For instance, in the event of a shooting incident, the drone can be deployed immediately to survey the site from a distance and gather the necessary data for patrol units.
This electric security vehicle equipped with AI technologies was produced at the Lucid factory, which opened in December in King Abdullah Economic City in Jeddah. The company aims to manufacture 5,000 vehicles annually, with plans to gradually reach a production of 155,000 electric vehicles per year.
This vehicle is environmentally friendly and supports Saudi Arabia's Green Initiative launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2021, aimed at activating the role of all community sectors, unifying sustainability efforts, and accelerating climate action in the Kingdom. The Saudi Green Initiative oversees the implementation of a sustainable long-term climate action plan guided by three comprehensive goals: reducing carbon emissions, afforestation in Saudi Arabia, and protecting terrestrial and marine areas.
The World Defense Exhibition 2024, organized by the General Authority for Military Industries in the Kingdom, focuses on the integration between air, land, and naval defense systems, satellites, and information security, providing an ideal environment for communication, innovation, and fostering collaboration among companies.
