The 'Islamic Resistance in Iraq' announced on Friday evening the postponement of its planned military response, originally scheduled for today. This decision comes following a request from Hadi al-Amiri, leader of the Badr Organization, amidst ongoing political and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
In a statement, the group said the postponement was made in response to Amiri's appeal and aligned with the positions of several political leaders, while reaffirming its stance on the casualties and wounded from recent strikes and on Iraqi sovereignty.
The announcement follows Amiri’s call for factions to delay any military response, stressing that patience would serve the 'greater good' and vowing to pursue the rights of the dead and injured through diplomatic channels.
A well-informed source revealed on Thursday that armed factions had temporarily suspended their decision to retaliate, along with presenting demands for a formal apology and compensation from Saudi Arabia, amidst political efforts to prevent further escalation.
According to statements, threats of retaliation emerged following U.S.-Saudi strikes on July 29 targeting Popular Mobilization Forces bases in seven Iraqi provinces, resulting in 20 deaths and 32 injuries.
