"Al Ain Chess Club Crowns Winners of Sha'ban Month Championship"

The "Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club" crowned the winners of the Sha'ban Month rapid chess championship, organized with the participation of 100 players from 11 countries, according to the Swiss system. The awards were presented by Abdullah Al Rashdi, Vice Chairman of the club. The international Filipino player, Marcus Marvyn, won the championship trophy and the gold medal with a score of 9.5 points. He was tied on points with Emirati International Master Ibrahim Sultan, who achieved the silver medal based on the tiebreak rules, while Indian International Master Dumir Vihan came in third with a score of 8 points.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi won the award for the best Emirati player, while Shaikha Abdullah Al Merrikhi received the award for the best Emirati female player. Ghaith Saeed Al Nuaimi was awarded the best player in the club, and Mahra Khalifa Al Neyadi received the best female player award in the club as well.

The competitions were managed by Emirati International Arbiter Ahmed Al Nuaimi, the tournament director, and the UAE International Arbiter Moza Al Mamari, the chief arbiter.

Tomorrow, the "Winter of Al Ain" classical chess championship will commence, which will conclude the schedule for February with the "Leap Day" Al Ain tournament taking place next week. Abdullah Al Rashdi confirmed that the club, which celebrates its silver jubilee next month, has become a global community sports institution, praising the significant participation in the club's events and competitions held this month, reflecting the success of community initiatives that contributed to promoting chess as a mind sport among various segments of society.
