Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced today, Friday, that he will join the television station "GB News," adding another media role to his work as a columnist for the "Daily Mail." Johnson wrote on the platform "X": "I will be presenting my candid views on everything from Russia to China, the war in Ukraine, how we face all these challenges, and the enormous opportunities that await us."
"GB News" stated that Johnson will work as a presenter, program maker, and commentator starting in early 2024 and will play a key role in covering the upcoming elections in Britain, expected next year, as well as the elections in the United States.
The television channel launched in 2021 with a mix of news, opinions, and analysis resembling American networks like Fox News more than its British counterparts. The British broadcasting regulator noted that the station has violated neutrality rules on several occasions.
Johnson, who was the main political leader behind the Brexit movement, became Prime Minister in 2019 and won a significant majority in the elections later that year. However, he resigned in 2022 after a series of scandals that caused him to lose the support of many Conservative Party MPs. Johnson, who worked as a journalist before entering politics, began writing columns for the "Daily Mail" in June.
