Civil defense personnel in Cairo were able to control the fire that broke out on a Nile island in the Corniche area of Maadi, near a well-known hospital. Six fire trucks were dispatched to extinguish the flames and contain them to prevent them from spreading to the rest of the island. The fire caused panic among citizens, leading the police to establish a security cordon around the incident site to ensure public safety. A report was filed regarding the incident, and the public prosecution was informed to initiate investigations.
Subsequently, Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of Cairo Security, ordered firefighters to be dispatched under the supervision of Major General Jamal Yassin, Director of the General Administration of Civil Defense in Cairo. The fire was contained before it could spread to the boats along the Maadi Corniche, resulting in no injuries.
For its part, the Egyptian Public Prosecution ordered "the appointment of forensic experts to inspect the site of the café fire and the contents that were burned in the Maadi Corniche, and to prepare a report to determine whether there is any suspicion of criminal activity." Investigations revealed that the flames consumed a collection of waste materials, and a report was filed to be presented to the prosecution for further investigation.
