The U.S. National Hurricane Center announced on Monday that Tropical Storm Nine has formed near the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to develop into a storm before reaching the Texas coast. The Miami-based center reported that the hurricane is located about 770 kilometers southeast of Port Mansfield, Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour. The hurricane is expected to become a tropical depression later today and move inland over South Texas early tomorrow, Tuesday. The hurricane center issued a storm warning, indicating that winds could bring total rainfall amounts ranging from 7.6 to 12.7 centimeters, with higher amounts in certain areas reaching up to 17.8 centimeters, which could lead to flooding.
