Suleiman Haroun, head of the private hospitals association, stated in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that "negotiations are ongoing with the Minister of Health to raise the fee for a dialysis session to $68, as the current fee of $62 is insufficient and does not cover the significant differences related to medical supplies, resulting in large losses for hospitals." He noted that he observes an understanding of the issue from the minister and the guarantee bodies, and that the figures for the supplies are clear and undisputed. He expressed hope for a resolution to the issue before the end of the month, so that patients do not bear any costs out of pocket. Haroun also called on the social security fund to raise the old fee that it continues to apply, which is $53. He reminded that the cost of dialysis is approximately $1000 per month, emphasizing that the association will exert all possible pressure to ensure that the guarantee bodies accept the fee that the association demands, and that everyone must take responsibility to spare the patient from having to pay any additional costs.
