Musk: Twitter Implements Temporary Restrictions to Address Data Scraping and System Manipulation

American billionaire Elon Musk tweeted today that the Twitter platform has implemented temporary restrictions on viewing posts to address "severe" levels of data scraping and system manipulation. Musk explained that the platform has placed temporary limits on verified accounts, allowing them to read a maximum of 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts can read 600 posts daily. New unverified accounts will be limited to 300 posts per day.

In another tweet, Musk indicated that the limit would soon increase to 8,000 posts per day for verified users, 800 posts per day for unverified accounts, and 400 for new unverified users. Musk did not provide further details on when the increase in allowed posts would take effect. This move comes after the platform announced that it would require users to have accounts in order to view tweets, a step Musk described as a "temporary emergency measure." He stated that hundreds of institutions or more were aggressively scraping Twitter data, which affected the user experience.
