Sharjah: The Global Cultural City for 2024

The head of the Babylon International Cultural and Arts Festival, Ali Al-Shalah, announced today, Sunday, that Sharjah has been designated as the Global Cultural City for 2024. Al-Shalah stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the high committee of the 11th Babylon International Cultural Festival has chosen the Emirati city of Sharjah as the Global Cultural City for 2024," noting that "the announcement was made in the presence of 5,000 attendees at the historical Babylon Theater." He added that "Babylon is one of the first cities and the mistress of civilizations, as it alone has the right to determine cities distinguished culturally and civilization-wise." He also pointed out that "the high committee selected Sharjah unanimously from among 8 global cities, two of which are Arab." Al-Shalah expressed his hope for "the city of Sharjah and its leadership to continue shining and progressing."
