The U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on a network comprising companies and individuals for facilitating the transfer of U.S. technology from dozens of American institutions to Iranian entities, including the central bank. The department stated that the sanctions are connected to the "Information Services Company," the technological arm of the Iranian central bank. Additionally, the U.S. Treasury imposed sanctions on several institutions suspected of being affiliated with the Information Services Company, which is based in Turkey, and on three individuals suspected of being associated with it, including Pouria Mirdamadi, who holds both Iranian and French citizenship. Brian Nelson, the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, revealed that the Iranian central bank played a crucial role in providing financial support to Hezbollah and the Quds Force, the external arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
