Lebanon began its journey in the Asian Basketball Championship for under-16 boys, held in Qatar's capital, Doha, with a resounding victory over Sri Lanka, ending with a score of 99-45. Lebanon was able to impose its rhythm from the first whistle to the last second of the match. Sixteen countries, including Lebanon, are participating in the seventh edition of this continental championship, which started on Sunday, September 17, and will continue until September 24. The continental championship serves as a qualifier for the World Cup, which will take place in Turkey from June 29 to July 7 next year. The top four teams that qualify for the semifinals of the Asian Championship will join the teams that qualify from other continents in the World Cup. The 16 participating countries are divided into four groups, with each group containing four teams as follows: Group A includes Australia, India, Lebanon, and Sri Lanka. Group B consists of Iran, Japan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Group C includes New Zealand, South Korea, Bahrain, and Jordan, while Group D features the Philippines, China, Malaysia, and Kazakhstan. Lebanon will play its second match against India on Monday evening at 7:30 PM Beirut time.
