Dr. Yelena Smirnova, a specialist in rectal diseases, indicates that potassium-rich foods help protect against intestinal bloating. She notes that celery, avocados, tomatoes, and yogurt help prevent abdominal bloating and pain. According to her, bloating is often linked to a lack of fluid levels in the body. In such cases, consuming celery can combat fluid deficiency, thereby protecting against abdominal bloating. Meanwhile, avocados and tomatoes reduce the risk of bloating as they are high in potassium. The potassium content lowers sodium levels in the body, which causes bloating.
The doctor also mentions that results from some studies have shown that eating yogurt can reduce intestinal gas by up to 70 percent, as it aids in breaking down lactose, which causes bloating. Additionally, consuming large amounts of food, sweets, and fatty foods can lead to heaviness and abdominal bloating. Previously, the doctor recommended consuming three servings of dairy products a day, each not exceeding 200 milliliters.
