Due to bird strikes on its engine, EgyptAir decided to cancel a flight and disembark passengers. On Friday, EgyptAir announced the cancellation of its flight from Kigali, Rwanda, after some birds struck the plane's engine while it was moving on the runway. The airline stated that during the takeoff of one of its Boeing aircraft from Kigali Airport bound for Cairo Airport, the bird strike occurred when the plane was taxiing, prompting the captain to cancel the takeoff and return to the gate to ensure the safety of the passengers and the aircraft. The statement also noted that all passengers were disembarked from the aircraft and taken to hotels in Kigali until the plane could be inspected and any debris from the bird strikes on the engine could be cleared.
