Bodies of Kuwaiti Fishermen Found Burned Near Their Vehicle

A security report revealed today, Tuesday, that security forces found the bodies of two Kuwaiti fishermen in Salah al-Din Governorate a day after their abduction was announced. Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah al-Jaber al-Sabah stated, "Iraqi authorities have found the bodies of a Kuwaiti and a Saudi resident in Kuwait, who went missing during a fishing trip in a desert area in Iraq." The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement saying, "The relevant authorities in the Republic of Iraq have found the bodies of a Kuwaiti citizen and another who holds Saudi nationality residing in Kuwait, who recently disappeared in Anbar Governorate in Iraq." A statement from Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah al-Jaber al-Sabah is also included.

Yesterday, two security officials reported that two Kuwaiti citizens were abducted during a fishing trip in a desert area in Iraq last Sunday, prompting security forces to launch an extensive search operation for them, according to Reuters. A senior police officer reported that the kidnapping occurred in a desert area between Anbar and Salah al-Din Governorates, and the initial investigations indicated that one of the fishermen's vehicles was attacked by armed men, leading to the loss of contact with the two Kuwaitis.
