The Saudi Cabinet welcomed today, Tuesday, the establishment of a roadmap to support the peace process in Yemen. The council, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, affirmed that "the Kingdom stands with Yemen and encourages the Yemeni parties to sit at the dialogue table to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution under the supervision of the United Nations." UN envoy Hans Grundberg announced that "the warring parties in Yemen have committed to a new ceasefire and to engage in a UN-led peace process as part of a roadmap to end the war." He explained that "the anticipated roadmap will also include mechanisms for implementation and will prepare for a political process led by Yemenis under the auspices of the UN." The Houthis have not officially commented on the UN statement despite two days having passed since its announcement, while Yemenis express doubts about the group exploiting the Israeli war on Gaza to evade the requirements of peace.
