Member of the media center of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, Manar Ghanem, warned about the weather conditions on Thursday, March 28, 2024, as the country is experiencing a severe heat wave. Ghanem stated, "The country is witnessing the first heat wave of spring, with its peak occurring yesterday (Wednesday) and continuing today (Thursday), with maximum temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius in Greater Cairo."
Ghanem explained, "Until mid-next week, temperatures will continue to rise and will be higher than normal levels, with hot weather during the day and pleasant temperatures at night, showing significant improvement."
She confirmed that "tomorrow (Thursday), the country is expected to experience suspended dust during the day, which will affect horizontal visibility in Greater Cairo, the northern coast, and the southern regions, along with windy conditions that will stir sands and dust in the western regions and the northwestern coastal areas."
Ghanem pointed out that "with the night period tomorrow (Thursday), the country will be affected by a low-pressure system in the upper layers of the atmosphere, with moderate rainfall expected at night on the northwestern coasts, and some areas from the northern delta may experience light rain during the late night hours, affecting regions of southern delta, Greater Cairo, and the cities of the canal, continuing until morning and including areas of the northern coasts, Sinai, and the Red Sea mountain ranges."
She added, "Starting from next Friday, temperatures will range between 29 to 30 degrees Celsius, warning that those with respiratory allergies and sinus issues should wear masks."
