Main Maternity Hospital in Rafah Stops Receiving Cases

The United Nations Population Fund announced today, Wednesday, that "the main maternity hospital in the city of Rafah, in southern Gaza, has stopped accepting cases." The fund explained in a media statement that "the Emirates Crescent maternity hospital was receiving about 85 cases daily out of a total of 180 in Gaza before the escalation of fighting between Hamas and Israeli forces on the outskirts of Rafah." Approximately half of Gaza's population, which totals 2.3 million, has piled into Rafah after fleeing from other parts of the enclave during the ongoing war for seven months.
