The Governor of North Sinai, Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha, announced the launch of housing units in the city of New Rafah, northeastern Egypt, to accommodate 75,000 residents in phases. He added that "the planning of New Rafah is intended to align with fourth-generation cities, following the examples of New Cairo, 6th of October, and urban community cities, and even competing with them."
Egyptian media reported Shousha's confirmation that "there will be no settlement in North Sinai or in any development cluster for anyone from Gaza," emphasizing that "Egypt maintains its land with the help of the armed forces and police and will not leave its land to anyone under any circumstances."
New Rafah is located 7 kilometers from the international border and aims to provide suitable housing for the city's residents after years of terrorist attacks.
