In an unusual move, Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, accompanied by the Iraqi Intelligence Director and six other officers, arrived secretly in Beirut to arrest an Iraqi wanted in his country for a corruption case involving millions of dollars. This unprecedented step typically requires authorities to request the Lebanese judicial and security authorities to detain the wanted individual and submit an extradition request according to legal norms. It was revealed that the "Iraqi commando" delegation coordinated the visit with the State Security apparatus, which informed Prime Minister Najib Mikati of the matter, while Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi was not informed about the Iraqi mission, as reported by "Al-Akhbar."
