Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, received former Minister Marwan Charbel at Dar al-Fatwa. After the meeting, Charbel stated, "Three occasions brought us together. The first is to congratulate him on the anniversary of the Prophet's birth, may God bring it back to all Lebanese with goodness and blessings. The second occasion is to congratulate him on the extension of his term for another four years for this moderate, forgiving, and accommodating national figure. The third occasion is that for the first time we see democratic elections, such as those that took place in the Higher Islamic Council elections. I told his Eminence, and he laughed, why do we discuss the specifications of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister? Your specifications align with those of the President and Prime Minister whom we are about to choose."
The Mufti also received former Minister Mohammad Fahmy, who, after the meeting, said, "Our visit today is to congratulate his Eminence on the extension of his new term, wishing him success in this mission. We hope that all political forces and parliamentary blocs will heed his Eminence's call to elect a President of the Republic."
Mufti Deryan also welcomed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Middle East Airlines, Mohammad Al-Hout, congratulating him and wishing him continued success.
