After Raising Electricity Tariffs... The Price is Linked to Currency Exchange and Oil Prices!

The Board of Directors of "Electricité du Liban" clarified that its decision leads to raising the tariff to 10 cents for the first kilowatt-hour and 27 cents for each kilowatt-hour exceeding 100, as well as for all other tariffs, provided that all public administrations and institutions pay electricity consumption bills, which amount to approximately 230 million dollars annually, and that the Lebanese state covers the cost of purchasing Iraqi fuel. If these two actions are not implemented, the tariff will increase to 37 cents instead of 27 cents. As for fixed fees, they will increase by 30% from what they were in cents before the financial crisis. It is worth noting that the tariff will be adjusted every month or two based on fluctuations in oil prices and the exchange rate at the Central Bank of Lebanon.
