Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that Ukrainian forces attempted to attack Russian territory, noting their failure to succeed anywhere and heavy losses incurred. During a meeting with members of the Russian Security Council, Putin stated that the "new Nazi regime" in Kyiv is planning and trying to carry out a number of armed actions before elections in Russia. He added that "the enemy forces and means attempting to breach Russian territory numbered more than 2,500 individuals, 35 tanks, and about 40 armored vehicles," indicating that the Ukrainian troops that attacked Russian territory fled after suffering losses.
The Russian president mentioned, "A complete series of sabotage and terrorist attacks was carried out, four in Belgorod and one on several fronts in Kursk, aimed at achieving a breach and establishing a foothold on Russian territory," according to Russian media reports. Putin emphasized that the Ukrainian attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation "will not go unpunished," affirming that "the Kyiv regime will not be able to terrorize the Russian people with sabotage attacks on border areas" and that Russians will respond to such actions "with greater unity." He reiterated that Russian soldiers on the front line "confidently take the initiative, advancing step by step, and demonstrate courage and heroism in accomplishing their assigned combat tasks."
