UAE Expresses Deep Concern Over Escalating Tensions in North Darfur

The United Arab Emirates has expressed its deep concern regarding the escalating tensions in the region of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, and the threat it poses to Sudanese civilians. The UAE called on all armed factions, including the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, to cease hostilities and return to dialogue. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué that "the UAE is deeply concerned about reports of sexual violence against women and girls, the rising risk of famine and indiscriminate airstrikes, and the ongoing suffering and displacement of thousands of civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly." The UAE urged the Security Council to take necessary measures to ensure an end to the conflict and allow humanitarian assistance to reach all parts of Sudan safely and unhindered, reaffirming its steadfast position calling for an immediate ceasefire and a political resolution to the crisis, as well as supporting the political process and efforts to achieve national consensus towards a civilian-led government.
