The Iraqi Directorate General for Intelligence and Security announced today, Sunday, the striking of drug traffickers' strongholds, apprehending 18 wanted individuals in various provinces. According to a statement from the directorate, through a series of separate operations based on precise intelligence information, field teams from the Directorate General for Intelligence and Security within the Ministry of Defense managed to arrest 18 individuals wanted by the judiciary on charges of drug trafficking and promotion of narcotics.
The statement clarified that the suspects were apprehended in the provinces of Baghdad, Al-Muthanna, Diwaniya, and Karbala, with arrest warrants issued against them under Article 28 (Drugs). It also noted that light weapons and quantities of various narcotics, as well as drug use paraphernalia, were seized and that the suspects were referred to the relevant authorities.
