The President of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, stated that the military maneuver conducted by Hezbollah yesterday in the southern region is completely rejected. "At a time when the Lebanese are struggling day and night to rebuild their state and regain Arab and international trust in this state, Hezbollah sent a clear message to all Lebanese and the Arab and international communities, indicating that no matter what efforts you make, we will not allow an actual state to be established in Lebanon."
Geagea, in a statement, noted that "while the region has witnessed some positive steps in the past two months suggesting a return to normalcy, the latest indication of this was found in article six of the resolutions from the Arab summit held in Jeddah last Friday, which fully rejected support for the formation of armed groups and militias outside the state's institutions. In a time when things in the region appear to be heading in this direction, Hezbollah announced to the Arab League and the international community that it is not concerned with what is happening at the regional level and that it will continue as it has for the past twenty years."
He declared, “If Hezbollah believes that this maneuver can enhance the chances of its presidential candidate, it is completely mistaken," asserting that Hezbollah's maneuver is a foolish act that will only harm Lebanon and the hopes of its people for a real state that alleviates their suffering. He added that it will only negatively impact some of the recent signs of easing in the Arab region, and thus this maneuver will benefit only Israel.
