The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) revealed today, Saturday, that Secretary Lloyd Austin remains in the hospital but is in good condition, adding that his discharge date has not yet been determined. Pentagon spokesperson Major General Pat Ryder stated in a statement: "He is in touch with his senior staff, and all the necessary secure communication capabilities are available to him, and he continues to monitor the department's daily operations worldwide." Austin, 70 years old, visited the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on December 22 for treatment for prostate cancer and returned to the hospital on January 1 due to complications, including a urinary tract infection, and has been there since.
