Arrest of Two Sierra Leonean Domestic Workers in Al-Jnah

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces reported that a citizen (H.H., born in 1986) claimed that she brought a Sierra Leonean domestic worker of unknown identity to her home in the southern town of Zefta, and that the latter proceeded to steal a safe containing an amount of $30,000, 900 euros, and gold jewelry estimated to be worth $10,000. Immediately, the specialized divisions of the Internal Security Forces began their on-ground and investigative procedures to determine the identity and location of the aforementioned worker and apprehend her.

As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch revealed the involvement of another domestic worker in the robbery. Their identities were determined to be A.S. (born in 2000, Sierra Leonean) and K.A. (born in 1996, Sierra Leonean).

On September 3, 2023, after careful observation and monitoring, patrols from the branch managed to locate their hiding place in the Al-Jnah neighborhood, where they raided their residence and arrested them, confiscating $8,000.

During the investigation and information cross-referencing, they confessed to stealing the safe from inside the house in Zefta, in addition to carrying out two other thefts of cash from within homes in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. Legal action was taken against them, and they, along with the confiscated amount, were referred to the relevant authorities, based on the directives of the competent judiciary.
