White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced on Sunday that President Joe Biden has not yet been briefed on Israel's military operation plan in Rafah, but he believes that civilian lives must be protected. In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," he stated that a large military operation in Rafah should not be executed before a clear and feasible plan is in place to safeguard these civilians and ensure their safety, food, clothing, and shelter. He noted that the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Israel have reached an understanding regarding the "key features" of a hostage agreement to declare a temporary ceasefire in Gaza. He added that the agreement is still under negotiation, indicating that indirect talks must take place between Qatar, Egypt, and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
