Former president of the "Progressive Socialist Party," Walid Jumblatt, addressed a letter to the Arab and Lebanese figures who signed the letter to the "Cairo Peace Conference." He stated: "I was among you as a signatory to the aforementioned letter in the early days following the 'Flood of Al-Aqsa' and the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza. However, as events and developments have escalated to another level of war crimes and genocide perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces in both Gaza and the West Bank, and as the level of Western bias and cover-up for these crimes has surpassed all standards, disregarding all concepts of humanity and human rights, and at a time when there is a complete absence of any effective Arab stance or movement - unfortunately - leaving the Palestinian people at the mercy of their fate in the face of the brutal machinery of occupation and projects of killing and displacement, I see that this letter has lost its significance in light of everything affecting the Palestinians."
He added: "As long as there are no rational people in this world, and no responsible party here or there cares about what is happening, for all these reasons, and to avoid losing our credibility, I urge you to withdraw this letter and explore what can be done practically to provide genuine support for the resilience of Palestine and its people in this fateful confrontation."
