On Sunday, Palestinian prisoner Walid Daqa passed away inside Asaf Harofeh Hospital. Hamas mourned him, stating: "We mourn the dean of prisoners and the general of steadfastness, the martyr prisoner Walid Daqa." The statement continued: "The martyrdom of prisoner Walid Daqa inside the occupation's prisons, after the enemy refused to release him despite the completion of his unjust imprisonment and his suffering from serious illnesses, made him a living embodiment of the suffering endured by our brave prisoners inside the cells and detention centers. We assure our people and the families of our prisoners that we will spare no effort to liberate our prisoners from the occupation's dungeons."
**Who is Daqa?**
Walid Nimer Daqa was born in 1961 in Baqa al-Gharbiyye, located within the borders of Palestine from 1948. He was arrested in 1986 due to his involvement in resistance and militant work and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He spent 38 consecutive years in the occupation prisons. During his imprisonment, he earned a master's degree in political science and completed numerous studies and articles.
- He authored political and cultural texts and novels.
- He is considered one of the elite intellectuals in the Palestinian prisoners' movement.
- He successfully smuggled a sperm sample to his wife, and they had a daughter named "Milad."
He was diagnosed with cancer and faced medical neglect from the Israeli prison administration, which repeatedly denied his release requests in court. He died today at the Israeli "Asaf Harofeh" hospital.
“Milad” is Walid Daqa's only daughter, born from a smuggled sperm sample from within an Israeli prison years ago.
Ben Gvir commented: "Unfortunately, Walid Daqa's life ended due to natural causes, not execution as should be from my point of view."
