"Childish Acts" by Officers... Iraqi Army Launches Investigation (Video)

A strange incident occurred in Iraq in the past few hours, prompting a statement from the Iraqi army to clarify the situation and take appropriate actions against the perpetrators. This followed the circulation of a video showing an officer in the Iraqi army with the rank of "Major" slapping and hitting a colleague with the rank of "Colonel," causing him to cry. This led to significant controversy on social media, and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense issued a statement about the incident on Sunday.

The ministry stated: "Some social media sites circulated a video of two officers acting in a manner unbefitting of military rank and outside the established military protocols within a significant institution with a rich history spanning 103 years of heroism and sacrifice."

The statement continued: "Based on these childish behaviors that tarnish the reputation of the Iraqi army and its glorious history, Defense Minister Mr. Thabet Mohammad Al-Abbasi ordered the military intelligence director to suspend the officers featured in the video and form an investigative board to ascertain the truth of what they have circulated and hold them accountable under military penal law."

The statement concluded: "The ministry affirms that it will punish any member or officer who engages in actions that could damage the reputation of the ministry and its esteemed history, and no one will be exempt from accountability should they take actions that disrespect the legacy of the valiant Iraqi army."

It remains unclear whether the content was a prank or performance by the two Iraqi officers or a genuine assault by one officer on the other.
