Zelensky: 31,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Killed in the War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed during the ongoing Russian invasion, marking the first official disclosure of military casualty figures in months. He added in a press conference that he cannot disclose the number of injured in the war, as doing so would support Russian military planning.

Zelensky spoke about a plan prepared by Ukraine for a new counter-offensive against Russian forces but clarified that he could not reveal the details. He stated in the capital, Kyiv, that troop rotation is critical for the war effort and that Ukraine needs to better prepare reserve forces.

The Ukrainian president also mentioned that the plans for the counter-offensive launched by his forces last year were leaked to Russia before it began. Zelensky said, "Our plans for the counter-offensive were on the Kremlin's table before the counter-offensive began," adding that his military leaders are preparing "several plans" for the war strategy this year "due to information leaks."
