The Observer: Britain Received Advice on Israel Violating International Law

The newspaper "The Observer" revealed that the British government received legal advice from its lawyers indicating that Israel has violated international humanitarian law in Gaza, but it failed to disclose this information, according to a leaked recording obtained by the paper. The British newspaper noted that comments made by Alicia Kearns, the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Commons, at a Conservative Party fundraising event on the 13th of last month contradicted the British government’s repeated denials regarding this issue. The paper added that Kearns pressed ministers, including Foreign Secretary David Cameron, repeatedly regarding the legal advice they received on this matter. Kearns stated, "I am still convinced that the government has completed its updated assessment of whether Israel is demonstrating a commitment to international humanitarian law, and it has concluded that Israel is not showing this commitment, which is the legal decision it must make."
