Education Minister Abbas Al-Halabi announced that the unified exam for the intermediate certificate (Brevée) would not be conducted, and school marks would be adopted instead. In a press conference regarding official exams and the situation in the south, he indicated that "conducting two separate exams for the same certificate would harm its credibility and reduce trust in it." He noted that "through our meetings, we concluded that we need to introduce some modifications to the exams to preserve the official certificate."
Al-Halabi confirmed that "the decision to conduct exams and determine their nature is exclusively the responsibility of the Ministry of Education," clarifying that "exams are not a political issue; decisions regarding them are made from an educational perspective." He announced, "We have decided to maintain unified exams for all students in Lebanon, not to separate the south from other regions, and to avoid discrimination." He also declared the "cancellation of official exams in vocational and technical education for preparatory vocational certificates and technical qualifications."
